Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do
Hello, I am Meg and my business is called Unwind With Meg. I am a 1st class graduate in BSc (Hons) in Counselling, Coaching & Psychology Interventions as well as a Sound Meditation Teacher. I offer pluralistic counselling online and recognise that each person is unique and needs different help at different times in their lives. Therefore, I tailor therapy to suit you and put you at the centre of your own well-being.
I also offer monthly group sound baths, private sound baths in the comfort of your own home, party package sound baths, corporate well-being sound baths and wedding package sound baths! I believe that self care is essential in everyone’s daily lives and one of the best things you can invest in is yourself and your well-being.
I started my own self care and healing journey in 2017 after experiencing my own traumas. I found that attending counselling and having someone external to talk extremely beneficial. I was reluctant at first to go but I am so glad I did as it changed my life for the better. I also found sound healing life changing as I often found it difficult to follow step by step instructions when I was mentally overwhelmed.
Having a treatment where I could just lay there, close my eyes and allow the sound waves to bathe me leaving me feeling relaxed, safe and grounded was a healthy way of releasing my pain.
How did it feel in the run up to your first session?
In the run up to my first session I felt nervous, excited and anxious. I doubted myself and wondered if I was doing the right thing? How would I manage in front of all these people? I was also proud of myself for taking a leap into something I have always wanted to do.
And how did it feel when you did it?
After the first session was over I was filled with pride, joy and happiness, it is almost unexplainable. I felt warm and tingly in my chest. I felt relaxed, relieved and optimistic of what the future could hold.
If you could sum up why somebody should try a sound meditation session, what would you say?
Sound meditation is an experience everyone should try. It helps you relax, unblocks energy stuck in chakras, rebalances the nervous system, improves sleep quality, promotes deep relaxation and relieves anxiety, it can help aid pain management and it provides a sense of inner peace. These are just a small handful of benefits that sound meditation can help with. Give it a go and let me know how it goes!
And to anyone thinking of training as a Sound Meditation Teacher what advice would you give to them?
Do it! Don’t over think it. Don’t doubt yourself, just go for it! Don’t let your fears and anxiety stop you from achieving your full potential. Celebrate every small win along the way and be proud of yourself. Training to be a Sound Meditation Teacher at Stratford School of Meditation was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I really feel that I have found my niche with sound meditation and you could to!
What have you got coming up on the horizon? Where can we find out more about you?
I have a Halloween themed sound bath coming up on the 26th of October! Which is very exciting and has been very popular. I also have a Christmas themed sound bath on the 7th of December and a ‘crimbo limbo’ sound bath on the 28th of December. We all know that time in between Christmas and new year is a strange one. We are eating celebrations for breakfast, no one knows what time or day it is. We are all trying to resettle after the Christmas rush. So it’s the perfect time to achieve ultimate relaxation by attending a sound bath.
